Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership on environmental management, environmental safeguards, and sustainability aspects of project implementation.
Conduct environmental assessments, needs assessments, environmental screening, and risk analyses to identify and address environmental issues associated with project activities.
Develop and strengthen environmental monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks, indicators, and reporting systems.
Support the design and implementation of environmental management plans, mitigation measures, and compliance monitoring mechanisms.
Provide technical guidance on air pollution, sound pollution, environmental health, and climate change-related impacts on public health.
Ensure project activities comply with national environmental regulations and applicable donor environmental safeguard requirements.
Support the implementation and monitoring of the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) Standards and other relevant environmental safeguard frameworks.
Design and facilitate capacity-building programs, training sessions, workshops, and awareness initiatives on environmental management and safeguards.
Coordinate with government agencies, development partners, project stakeholders, and technical teams on environmental compliance and risk management issues.
Prepare environmental assessment reports, monitoring reports, safeguard documentation, technical reports, and other project-related reports.
Contribute to knowledge management, lessons learned, and dissemination of environmental best practices.
Requirements
Academic Qualification:
Master’s degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or another relevant discipline from a recognized university.
Professional Experience:
Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in environmental management, environmental safeguards, or environmental compliance.
Demonstrated experience in:
– Conducting environmental and needs assessments;
– Designing and implementing Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks;
– Capacity building and institutional strengthening initiatives.
Proven experience related to:
– Air pollution management and mitigation;
– Sound/noise pollution management;
– Climate change impacts on public health and environmental sustainability.
Strong knowledge and practical experience in implementing and monitoring the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) Standards.
Experience working on externally aided or international donor-funded projects will be highly preferred, particularly projects financed by:
– World Bank (WB);
– Asian Development Bank (ADB);
– Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Experience in preparing environmental reports, safeguard documents, compliance reports, and project-related technical documentation.
Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and report-writing skills.
Proficiency in environmental data analysis, monitoring tools, and relevant computer applications.
