We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our founding engineering team and help build the next generation of products that power social impact.
Position Overview:
As a Software Engineer at RedOrange Technologies, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable software solutions across our product portfolio. You will work on both greenfield development (AI-powered SaaS products) and existing platforms (including WordPress-based websites and applications).
This role requires a versatile engineer who can thrive in a startup environment – someone who is comfortable building from scratch, maintaining legacy systems, and bridging the gap between modern frameworks and established platforms.
You will collaborate with the engineering team and the RedOrange Communication team to deliver high-impact solutions for our clients and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Development & Engineering:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications using PHP (Laravel), Node.js, and modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue.js, or Nuxt).
Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services, including payment gateways, courier APIs, messaging services, and other external platforms.
Develop and maintain WordPress-based websites and applications, including custom theme development, plugin development, and performance optimization.
Ensure code quality, security, and performance standards across all projects through code reviews, testing, and continuous integration.
Optimize database queries and manage data layers using MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Redis.
Infrastructure & DevOps:
Deploy, manage, and monitor applications on Linux VPS, AWS (EC2, VPC, S3), or OpenStack environments.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or similar) for automated testing and deployment.
Manage DNS configurations, SSL certificates, and email server setups, including SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
Troubleshoot production issues and ensure 99.9% uptime for mission-critical systems.
WordPress-Specific Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes using best practices with PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
Build and extend custom WordPress plugins to integrate with external APIs and third-party services.
Optimize WordPress performance through caching, image optimization, database optimization, and other performance-enhancement techniques.
Manage and maintain WordPress multi-site installations where applicable.
Ensure WordPress installations are up-to-date and secure, implementing security best practices such as protection against SQL injection, XSS, and CSRF.
Collaboration & Communication:
Collaborate with the product team to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
Provide technical mentorship to junior developers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
Document code, APIs, and system architecture for internal and external stakeholders.
Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Quality Assurance & Testing:
Write unit and integration tests to ensure code reliability and maintainability.
Conduct performance testing and optimization for both Laravel and WordPress applications.
Debug and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience
4+ years of professional experience in software development, with strong expertise in PHP, Laravel, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
Proven experience in designing, developing, and scaling SaaS platforms, eCommerce systems, and high-traffic web applications.
Hands-on experience in WordPress development, including custom theme and plugin development.
Practical experience with Linux server administration, Docker, and cloud platforms such as AWS, VPS, and OpenStack.
Experience with queue systems such as RabbitMQ and Redis, as well as CI/CD pipelines, is highly preferred.
Familiarity with AI/ML integration and blockchain technologies is considered a plus.
